Ventrilo VS Teamspeak

So we have a decent size class for our Advanced Game Design, and we were trying to figure out a way to all meet up outside of class virtually. Google Hangouts only allows for around 8 people, and so does Ventrilo when you set up a free server. Although Ventrilo's paid servers are said to be a better quality than Teamspeak, I really don't notice a difference. There was always the option of Skype, but quite personally I really don't like Skype. It's only good use, is for 1 on 1 video calls in my pinon.

So after wasting time setting up a Ventrilo server for our team, only to find out afterwards about the 8 people limit, I decided to look into Teamspeak. Just our luck, when you set up a free server on Teamspeak you can have up to 32 people on your server! Ding Ding Ding! So I set our team up a server and made the proper channels according to our teams structure, and also made a leads office that's password protected, and for leads only.

This was my first time ever setting up a server to use for one of these chat programs, so I am glad that I learned and know how to do it for future reference. After this Advanced Game Design Class is done, I will probably use my Teamspeak server for friends, fellow gamers and developers.

Anyway, if you would like to find out more about these two companies and their product, you can click on their images below to take you to their websites!
